Take a Tour of El Presidio de Santa Barbara
If you haven’t heard, we just launched a new walking wine tour in downtown Santa Barbara that passes by El Presidio de Santa Barbara. On the wine tour we walk through parts of Santa Barbara’s historic neighborhood for small bites of food and large sips of wine, plus we visit a few buildings of the original El Presidio ‘hood.
But if you’re looking to learn a bit more about Santa Barbara’s beginnings, we highly recommend a tour of El Presidio de Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara has such a cool history and this self-guided or docent led $5 tour, while it doesn’t come with wine, is definitely worth doing!
A self guided tour takes roughly 1 hour, depending on whether or not you decide to chat it up with the kindly and knowledgeable old docent behind the register at the starting point. Each room or outdoor area is full of historic relics, like historic adobe structures and cannons from our founders’ ships that washed ashore our beaches in Goleta in the 1970’s! There’s even a spot to watch a short video about Santa Barbara history if you want the full scoop.
And did you know that Santa Barbara is home to the second oldest building in California? This tour is a must-do for your next trip through the downtown area!
Looking for the cliff’s notes version of El Presidio history with wine and a few small bites? We’ve got you covered ?
