Interview with Sugar Cat Studio//Winner of Cupcake Wars on Food Network
Are you as addicted to amazing cupcakes as we are? If you’re human, then the right answer here is “Uh..yeah! Of course!”
Well, we happen to be friends with Alison Riede, winner of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars and owner of Sugar Cat Studio.
Anyway, we recently visited her kitchen to ask her some questions…
Q: What inspires you?
A: I get inspired by talking to other female business owners and watching them create the life of their dreams! I’m also inspired by traveling, trying food and wine from different countries and cultures, and cooking magazines and shows.
What profession would you most like to try?
I would love to host a cooking show similar to Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown. He gets to travel to amazing places and experience their food and culture.
What profession would you not like to try?
Flight attendant…long airport delays drive me crazy.
What talent would you most like to have?
I’m terrible at reading maps. I would love to have more talent in that department!
What is your idea of the perfect meal?
Enjoying homemade pizza with fresh ingredients (my current favorite is roasted garlic and rosemary) with friends and family. Oh and wine. Lots of red wine!
What is your favorite food?
Ice-cream, hands down. I absolutely cannot keep it in the house or else I will eat it all!
What is your favorite drink?
Red wine. Right now I’m loving the Baker and Brain Pinot Noir we have at Corks n’ Crowns.
What do you consider the most overrated or underrated ingredient?
Overrated: Carmelized onions. People need to stop putting them everywhere. Underrated: Cucumber. Some people say it has no taste or it tastes like water. I’ve made a cucumber mint cupcake, it’s one of my all time favorite recipes. Also, just adding some cucumber to water makes you feel instantly pampered.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Wine tasting on a beautiful sunny day with friends and family. Nothing better!
What is your favorite motto?
Warriors Prevail.
