Sneak Peek At Enterprise Fish Company’s New Menu

Let’s be real. When people think Santa Barbara, they think beach, booze and food.

While there are plenty of beaches to choose from to get your tan on and a plethora of places to grab a beer or taste wine, food is the real star of our city. We even have foodie festivals–lemons, avocados, seafood–we celebrate it all! And as the seasons change (yes, we have seasons in Santa Barbara), so do our menus. We are always discovering new places to eat and dishes that we can’t get enough of.

So, what’s one place that we love? Enterprise Fish Company.

If you’ve been on our Funk Zone Food & Photo Tour then you know that one of our stops is Enterprise Fish Co., where you get to taste an amazing lobster bisque with puff pastry on top. We love it so much our mouths are actually watering just thinking about it. Did we mention they’ve been voted the Best Happy Hour In Town six years in a row? Um, yeah. That’s just the tip of this tasty iceberg.

Just to give you a little background: the owners are two UC Santa Barbara grad students who were inspired by the mesquite grills that were used to prepare their fish tacos on their annual fishing trip to Mexico. They wanted to mimic the same style of grilling and preparation when they came back to Santa Barbara, and so they did!

But what makes them so special? The building’s history and the love our locals have for the owners. What started out as a commercial laundry facility in the 1890’s for the local hotels and restaurants later turned into Santa Barbara’s favorite seafood restaurant when it was re-opened as a seafood restaurant in 1977. And now on any given visit you might run into a past laundry employee who will tell stories about their sheet folding days and the building itself.

Now that you’ve had your history lesson for the day, let’s get on to the real reason you’re reading this post–the food!

We were recently invited to taste some of the dishes on their new menu that was released a few weeks ago. And oh boy, are you in for a treat!

enterprise fish company heirloom tomato salad

First up: this heirloom tomato & burrata salad dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. It’s light, refreshing and makes the perfect appetizer to share or side salad for lunch. But come on, burrata anything is good, amiright?!

These roasted rainbow carrots make a great appetizer as well. They smelled so good! With just the right amount of seasoning and crunch to every bite, who knew eating healthy could be so rewarding!

Okay. We may have died and were brought back to life with these charbroiled oysters on the half shell. These babies were freshly shucked and charbroiled with a little butter and garlic and we could eat them all day. Every day.

We got three words for you: crab grilled cheese. It sounds a little weird, right? We know crab dishes can sometimes be hit or miss, but this combination of blue crab, white cheddar, and smoked tomatoes on sourdough makes the perfect post-beach meal.

No visit to Enterprise Fish Co. would be complete without a little mesquite grilled mixed seafood kabob; a combination of shrimp, scallops, fresh fish–in this case, salmon–and vegetables, mesquite grilled on a skewer. You could easily have it all to yourself or share it as an appetizer. And seriously, that tartar sauce tho.

And last but certainly not least, this salted honey pie was wild and totally not what we were expecting! The mix of savory and sweet had us going back for more even though we vowed that only one or two bites was more than enough. (This one’s for you, sweet tooth junkies.)

Think this was a lot of food? These dishes were just some of the things we got to taste! We’ll definitely be back to try some of their other new dishes and we think you should go, too!
